Information recently sent out

Hello Wonderful Families,

Hope you’re all doing amazing and getting ready for spring competition season! Below is an abundance of information! I wanted to push summer out ASAP but please know dedicated emails will be going out regarding the Season Finale Party, Summer, Nationals, Auditions, That's Entertainment, and Musical Theater Routine Filming Dates. We will be billing TIA and MTC asap to take advantage of their Early Bird discounts. Let Rita know if you need to spread these payments out - we realize it's been a lot the last few weeks. **Both of these will be less expensive than Showstopper.

*Just a reminder, Competitions do not give out their schedules until a week before competitions. I can not answer questions regarding any competition scheduling.

Summer FAQ

When will Registration Open?

Soon.

Who can attend summer dance intensives?

Summer intensives are for kids who want to be pushed to the next level. These are classes that require passion and discipline. All levels. 7-18. (If under 7 please reach out for an evaluation prior)

Who needs to attend summer intensives?

Returning Team members are required to take 3 weeks of camp. This includes the mandatory Team Boot Camp. (the Beat must take 4 weeks)

New members of non-BEAT teams are required to attend Team Boot Camp Aug. 11-15 but encouraged to take more.

Children can grow the most during summer and we encourage anyone interested in placing on a higher dance team attend as many days of intensives as possible.

Do the musical theater day camps that CSS offers count toward required weeks?

No. But we do encourage everyone to do the day camps! They are very fun and a great opportunity to perform.

Can my child do the day camp then go into the evening intensives?

Yes! Well kind of. Campers doing the musical theater day camps will be offered a discount to continue into the 1/2 evening camp. We do not accept full day into full evening campers unless they have been given special permission from all department heads.

What do the weekly themes really mean?

All weeks will have acting, singing, ballet and jazz. This is all per discretion of the coaches and can change the day of.  If the theme for the week is Hip Hop we will focus the second half of the evening on hip hop techniques on some days. Weekly themes will always be subject to who we have available. For instance if a Broadway star like Niki Snelson is only available to come during the "Ballet week” we will pause ballet and do Musical Theater that day. The themes are just a suggestion but not guaranteed.

Can my child pop in for one day?

Always- $100 full day drop in fee $50 1/2 day drop in fee. (1/2 day is for 9 and under) Notice is required so we can staff appropriately.

What's the deal with Fridays?

Fridays will be 1/2 days split into levels. You will be notified on Monday which group to go to on Friday. This is to accommodate the day camps performances.

What do I have to do after I sign up for the entire summer?

If you sign up for the full summer you still must register for each week attending. There will be a no-show fee of $20 if you are registered for that week.

How much do dance intensives cost?

1/2 NIGHT intensives = $285 (9 and under)

NIGHT Intensives = $475

Going from day to 1/2 Night = $705 ($75 off)

All Day and all night (Prior approval required) = $870 Prior approval required ($100 off)

4th of July week full = $425

4th of July week 1/2 =$235

Unlimited Summer Full Day

12 weeks $3000 if paid in full before April 1st

$3,400 If paid after April 1st.

(Value $5,700)

Unlimited does not include any day camps provided by CSS.

The best entrance is in between Boudin and CALO Kitchen and Tequila.

The Center Stage Studio has been asked to perform again at the Children's Festival at South Coast Plaza!

This is a very relaxed performance just for fun! Every year we pick things from the prior season and new routines if they are ready. This year we have a mix of both. Resident will be reviving a short section of their routine from last year, Applause will be performing a short part of their NEW routine and lot's of other fun stuff. If you are new to teams don't worry! Everyone will perform in some capacity. Keep in mind this is not about getting "Stage Time" this event is about cheering each other on and supporting our friends! Some kids may only get on stage for a moment but they will all have a great time!

Hello Wonderful Team Families,

This is our final week to get everything in order for the start of the season!  Most of you have filled out the google forms for acceptance and solo requests. We only have 20% of contracts in. Contracts need to be in ASAP.  HERE. You can fill it out, take a pic and email it to me or find a hard copy at the front desk. Your child will not be allowed to be in class next week without a contract signed and tuition for September paid.

GROUP ME! - Some of you noticed the main group me was taken down. We will be starting fresh hopefully tomorrow. The groupme is a text chain with all 100 families. This will be used for information to be sent out- DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS IN THE GROUP ME! Information gets lost when people ask questions - it's especially irritating to ask questions that have already been answered in an email or can be found on the portal. For right now Please just ask me any questions you have! Once we get the new team moms announced you can ask them any team related questions!

PORTAL - (PASSWORD cssrocks) The portal now has schedules and  IN YOUR DANCE BAG! Please go over what your performer will need for their first day of class. Changes from last season - If your child is on a hip hop class or team they need shoes just for that. We do not want dirty shoes in the dance rooms. All students need a binder, pencil and their journals.

DO NOT RELY ON OLD EMAILS FOR INFORMATION. We have already had a Schedule change for competitions. PLEASE ONLY REFER TO THE PORTAL.

KAR has been replaced with SHOWSTOPPERS. The new dates can be found.... on the PORTAL

PRODUCTION: Everyone on teams is on production if they want to be. Everyone is called to the first rehearsal September 7th 9:30-11am. YAY!! If you are unable to make that rehearsal please email me so I can make sure we have an accurate team roster.

REMINDERS -

  • Tuition is due to be billed this Thursday the 29th.

  • Tuition will be billed the last Thursday of every month for the next month.

  • FIRST DAY OF CLASS IS SEPTEMBER 3rd

  • Festival of Children is September 29th. More info to come.

Thank you all so Much for a wonderful summer and especially for the last week or so. The community here is so wonderful and really just getting better. I appreciate all of you for supporting your children's passions and trusting them with us. I can't wait to see you all on Friday!

Hello Amazing Team Families!

Thank you all so much for auditioning for our 24/25 Season! It has been such a joy to watch all of the children bravery and talents. Below are our PRELIMINARY teams for Musical Theater the PAC and the CONSERVATORY now called the SERV.

As you go through the placements please remember that this is a new season and teams will be different. There are a million factors that go into placements. Know that Miss Chloe and the rest of the staff love these kids and want the absolute best for every single one of them.

We anticipate a ton of questions - I am going to try to get ahead of them here. Some of the rumors Chloe and I have heard are hilarious and not true. (Chloe flew to NYC this morning - please respect her time off and wait until she gets back to ask her anything I can’t answer.)

PRELIMINARY TEAMS…. We can’t stress this enough. During boot camp coaches will be putting teams together to make sure they are perfect and everyone is set up for an amazing season.

Musical Theater Teams are a bit different - We already know what we are doing for routines. These are not necessarily split by age or level. They are shows we cast. Some kids have been cast in two.

ENERGY Hip Hop - We are going to have a bigger Energy team this season. Most studios compete Hip Hop in a “Line” which is 19 or more kids. It is very successful and a ton of fun. This team will be considered Conservatory and not perform at the Celebrity competition in March.

PRODUCTION - Everyone is offered a place on PRODUCTION. There are no auditions to be on the team but there will be auditions during boot camp for featured roles. We will be splitting this into sections that will be determined at boot camp. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal.

APPLAUSE - This team’s tuition will cover two hours of class, one hour of rehearsal and the CSS fall show “The Greatest Showman!” We want to encourage this group and others to do the shows at CSS. At this time Applause will have their own cast of the show. We are unsure of what day that will be but it will be the 3:30-5:00 time.

The Portal - ALL Information is there (but not right now). I am working on updating everything to reflect the 24/25 season. The Competition Schedule and other important dates are up!

TUITION- Will be sent out with the contracts and new handbook in the next few days.

TEAM PARENT MEETING for the PAC the SERV and Musical Theater Teams

 August 14th

 7:00-8:30 New Parents

 7:30-8:30 Returning

We will discuss what the season will look like and answer all our questions!

The BEAT will have their own meeting TBA

Anticipated questions -

Q: My Child made it!! Now what?

A: Look at how many teams they made and decide which ones they can commit too. You do not have to commit to every team you make. Next, sign them up for boot camp Aug 12th-16th. Contracts will be sent with the updated handbook to have turned in soon. Once everyone has their contracts in and we know how many kids have committed to what teams we will be able to start on the weekly schedule.

Q:When is the first day of class?

A: HERE are all important dates. You can always find them on the portal.

Q: My child can not make BOOT CAMP August 12-16th

A: Bootcamp is extremely important for the start of the season and teams. We will be casting the Production, starting routines, we will get to know our new coaches and new performers, assign buddies, measure for costumes…… and more. Please do what you can to make sure your child is at boot camp.

Q: Who is coaching what teams?

A: We will be making announcements at Bootcamp!! We have new amazing coaches and teachers coming in that some of you know from the summer. As well as returning coaches who made last season such an incredible success.

Q: I have another silly question -

A: There are no silly questions - If you are returning and can not find it on the portal please reach out to me. The rumor mill is usually wrong.  If you are new- ask me anything and everything I know it can be overwhelming.

YEAR AT A GLANCE

We have made a Year At A Glance schedule for next season. This is tentative. Date of competitions and conventions may change due to many factors. We cannot express enough that this schedule is tentative!!

We are following the Capo Unified schedule for most breaks.

Things to know when looking at the schedule -

the Conservatory- Beginner Dance Teams, last season these teams included Mini Jazz, Jr. Jazz, Pre-Teen Jazz and our beginner Hip-hop Teams. These teams will go to competitions that have multiple entry levels.

The PAC - Intermediate/Advanced Dance teams, last season these teams included Mini plus Jazz, Mini Plus Lyrical etc. These teams will compete at competitions and be able to participate in classes at certain conventions. Teams range from mini to teen and include Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop and Tap.

Musical Theater Teams - These teams compete at competitions that are specialized in Triple Threat and provide microphones. Last season this included Applause, Bravo, Playbill, etc. (these teams will not be considered PAC or Conservatory to avoid confusion from last season)

The BEAT - This program is for our elite dancers. These teams will have required and optional conventions and competitions.

MTCA - This convention is only for advanced Musical Theater Teams 4th grade and up.  Any child, with Michelle or Chloe's approval, 4th grade and older will be able to compete their solos and duets as well as participate in the convention classes.

Production “Newsies!”- We will be bringing back production this year!! This is an all studio routine with rehearsals on Saturday mornings. Not every performer will be called to every rehearsal. This is not mandatory but highly encouraged.

Convention vs. Competition - Competitions are usually only for competing and have divisions for all levels. At Conventions dancers take class, audition, and compete all on the same day. Conventions are all day events for advanced and intermediate dancers.
